Student Concerto Competition - Every year, students of the Tyler Youth Orchestra may compete for the opportunity to perform a movement of a concerto or a solo work with the orchestra.  Auditions are held in the summer preceding the upcoming season.  All instruments may audition, although all applicants must have played in a TYO ensemble the previous season.
 
New Music Project - In 2007, the Board of Directors approved the creation of the Tyler Youth Orchestra New Music Project, an initiative to commission new works for orchestra to be premiered by the Tyler Youth Orchestra.  In its second year, Los Angeles/Tokyo based composer Kentaro Sato has been selected to create a work to be premiered by the TYO during the 2009-2010 season.

Fund Raising
 
TYO Golf Tournament - This year's TYO Golf Tournament was held March 27 and Oak Hurst Golf Course in Bullard.  Check back for 2011's tournament info.
 
Noted Circle Dinner - The Thirteenth Annual Noted Circle Dinner was held Sunday, February 28, 2010.  This year's honoree was Jamie Reason, orchestra director at the Brook Hill School.  The 4 oclock concert at Robert E. Lee High School was followed by the auction and dinner at the Holiday Inn on South Broadway.
